法政大学大学院でデザインスタジオ「NONBINARY CITY」を平井が行っています

2020. Jun. 15

This year, 2020,  Masatoshi Hirai is holding a design studio with Noemí Gómez Lobo from Tsukamoto Lab. In Tokyo Institute of Technology in the Graduate School of Hosei University as all in English studio.
Under the title of “NONBINARY CITY”, we started classes online from April 22 as a studio for designing urban and architecture that unites working and living.
The word “Nonbinary Gender” is originally used, and it refers to the idea that one’s gender recognition is not clearly applied to both men and women.
Here, if we consider the city of the 20th century that properly divides “working” and “living”, it increased efficiency by accumulating them as separate things as BINARY CITY.
It is a studio with a strike theme that explorers of a method we named NONBINARY CITY, which is designing both to be related together at the same time, and to envision new value from both directions of space and lifestyle.
Rather, it is a theme that I had been thinking about since February before corona got into full swing, so it is closer to the feeling that the strike zone is approaching to me. Anyway the real world far exceeded my expectations, and now we work at home with a background image hiding a small dining room where children are in online class.
The world of working-living chaos that seems to be completely covered the world. But We desire to think that the NONBINARY CITY is a world where you want to show each other the real background, the mutual complement of working-living, instead of digital background image.

The attached images are a part of the Nonbinary Research Booklet, casestudies from Japanese and international nonbinary mode spaces, at begging of our studio.
